Plans to bring 2.5 million tourists to the country

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says that it is expected to attract 2.5 million tourists to Sri Lanka by the year 2025.

He also said he expects $ 3.5 billion in revenue from it.

These views were expressed at a discussion held between the Prime Minister and stakeholders in the tourism sector at the Prime Minister’s Office in Colombo today (14).

In addition, the Prime Minister has instructed the officials of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority to prepare long term plans to attract 1.5 million high cost tourists to achieve the target.

Representatives of the authority stated that it expects to attract around 800,000 tourists for the rest of the year and the estimated revenue is 800 million US dollars. (colombotimes.lk)
