A former Canadian government IT worker has admitted to being a high-level hacker linked to a Russian cybercrime group.
Sebastien Vachon-Desjardins, a resident of Quebec, Canada, has pleaded guilty in a Florida court.
The 34-year-old officer was affiliated with the NetWalker ransomware crew.
He has attacked many information systems of companies, municipalities, hospitals, schools and universities.
It has also been revealed that he had $27 million (£22.2 million) worth of bitcoins at the time of his arrest.
This is a rare case of the successful arrest and prosecution of a hacker working for a Russian-based cyber crime group. (colombotimes.lk)
